European Novices Meet in Caleruega

The meeting of the European novitiates is currently taking place at the birthplace of St Dominic in Caleruega. For one week, the almost 50 European novices are gathering to pray together, listen to spiritual impulses and get to know each other.

It is obligatory to drink from the spring that originated at the birthplace of St Dominic. This is intended to bring new vocations to the order.

In his sermon, the Master of the Order recalled that the novitiate is the time to rest like the favourite disciple at the heart of Jesus and to listen to his heartbeat – and at the same time to open their eyes to what is happening in the world to which they will preach in the future. Like St Ignatius, who was converted while reading St Dominic’s biography, St Dominic’s life is a moment of conversion to Christ, for whom he was completely transparent.
