Our Constitutions define our mission in the following way: “The Order of Friars Preachers, founded by Saint Dominic, was, as we know, from the beginning specifically instituted for the preaching and salvation of souls. Our mission is to proclaim everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ by word and example, taking into account the situation of men and women, times and places, and whose purpose is to give birth to faith, or to enable it to penetrate more deeply into the lives of men and women with a view to building up the Body of Christ, which the sacraments of faith bring to perfection.” True to this mission statement, here is an overview of what our brothers do:

Several brothers and sisters of our Order are accomplished artists.
In our province, for example, the Belgian Dominican Albert Carpentier has worked mainly in Japan, as has Brother Gaston Petit, who has lived in Japan since 1961, and where he is renowned not only for his prints, but also as a painter, stained glass artist, muralist and architect.

The Centre dominicain d’éthique et de vie spirituelle is a study, research and teaching community rooted in the Dominican intellectual and spiritual tradition.

Espace Saint-Dominique
This is the mission of SAINT-DOMINIQUE Church in Quebec City, a Dominican space for spirituality, culture and sacred art, home of the Saint-Dominique Christian Community in collaboration with the Dominican friars of Quebec City.
