Another group has emerged more recently in the Church and in the Order, following in the footsteps of the religious communities.
\nIt, too, is made up of lay people who, like the brothers and sisters, want to put themselves in the school of St. Dominic to achieve the subtle blend of firmness in truth and compassionate friendship.
\nIn principle, the aim of secular institutes is very simple.
\nIt is to live Dominic’s ideal, not in a religious community, but in the very heart of the world, with all that this entails in terms of demands.
\nThrough their consecration to chastity, supported by Dominican spirituality, these lay people also become witnesses to the Gospel in the Dominican way.
These lay people, like the brothers and sisters, by their consecration and in the discretion of a seemingly ordinary existence, also become witnesses to the Gospel in the Dominican way.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
